How DVK Gas Monitors Work

DVK GA286 and GA286SV gas/fume alarms are designed to detect the presence of inflammable gases or vapours at concentrations below explosive limits.

The TGS 813/C sensor detects LPG (propane/butane), natural gas (methane), town gas and petrol fumes, with a calibration range of 1% to 25% LEL propane at 20°C.

Both models are designed for 12V DC systems and are ideal for boats, cars and caravans. They are flush mounted using a 95mm wide × 58mm high cut-out and can be installed in a convenient location.

Both models also have additional outputs for an external buzzer and/or alarm and/or fume extractor.

GA286 – Fume Detector & Alarm
The GA286 is the base model. It supports two sensors and provides alarm-only protection. It is supplied with 1 × 4m sensor lead.

GA286SV – Gas Detector with Alarm & Gas Shut-Off
The GA286SV also supports two sensors and controls a gas shut-off valve, which stops the flow of gas when a leak is detected. It is supplied with a 12V Australian-made certified Goyan shut-off valve and 1 × 4m sensor lead.

How the alarm operates
When the environment is safe and no gas is detected, the unit displays a green SAFE light. On the SV model, the gas shut-off valve is energised via the on-demand switch.

If fumes are detected, the green SAFE light changes to a red DANGER light and an audible alarm sounds. On the SV model, the shut-off valve will switch off the gas.

Red lights indicate which sensor is detecting gas. The unit will remain in DANGER mode with a flashing red light until the gas fumes have been removed and the unit is manually reset. It will then return to the green SAFE mode.

Both units conforms to Appendix E of AS/NZS 2013 5601-2 Gas Installations for LP gas installations in caravans and boats. According to this standard, BOATS with gas installs should have approved detector.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY

"Not only is DVK’s product first class, so is their services and advice. From our first enquiry, right through to the installation, it was a breeze. We now have peace of mind in our caravan that any leaks will be shut down. Totally recommend you get one.” - W Litster

“Jonathan Kain is extremely responsive to client needs. Additionally, he can sell component parts for DVK Monitors vs the need to purchase a complete new unit from the retailers, which is a considerable saving.” - T Baker

“The DVK monitors are very well presented and look professional when fitted. I have been the victim of a gas fire in a caravan and there is nothing more frightening than a gas explosion in the middle of the night. With the solenoid valve mounted directly to the gas cylinder, there is no way any gas can escape. The solenoid valve is the highest quality valve ever made. I highly recommend the DVK unit for ultimate safety and long lasting.” - C Downs

“Excellent service and a great product, thank you.”  - J Strahan

“Excellent service and a great product.” - V Li
